Es war einmal in Jerusalem
Gabriella Rosenthal (1913-1975), mother of Rabbi Dr. h.c. Tovia Ben-Chorin,
was born in Munich, Germany and emigrated to British Mandatory
Palestine in 1935 (since 1948, the State of Israel) where she lived until her death.
Her work, in watercolor and ink, includes both straightforward illustrations and
caricatures, which vividly and humorously reflect the multicultural daily life of
the many different ethnic groups in the Holy Land at that time.
