150th Anniversary of the New Synagogue

Celebration of the 150th anniversary of the concecration of the New synagogue of Berlin

September 2016 will mark the 150th time that the New Synagogue on Oranienburger Straße has celebrated its consecration. We have celebrated this particular anniversary on Sunday 11th September in conjunction with the ´Tag des offenen Denkmals´ (Day of Open Monuments). Since the opening of the Centrum Judaicum in 1995, the New Synagogue has not held an anniversary celebration of this size and importance.

The programme included:

  • An open-air-concert performance, in co-operation with the Louis Lewandowski Festival
  • Readings and Film Screenings
  • “Mittenmang & Tolerant” – an exhibition on the 150 year history of the New Synagogue
  • Free entry to the exhibitions
